Labor & Employment Litigation

The Labor and Employment Law department offers a broad range of experience to employees and employers alike. Labor and employment litigation is a major part of our practice. We specialize in disputes involving wrongful termination, breach of contract, and discrimination. We have negotiated numerous employment agreements, separation agreements and non-competition agreements. We represent employees in disputes with their employers. We have represented individuals in matters related to the New Jersey and Federal Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) as well as the Conscientious Employer Protection Act (CEPA) or whistleblower statute. The firm has also represented union members in disputes involving union membership, union benefits and contract disputes.

The firm’s practice is not limited to representing employees. We pride ourselves in being able to offer a broad range of services that include advice and counsel to small to medium sized businesses. We have successfully represented employers in litigation and have participated in numerous settlement negotiations and mediations. Our firm has associates with in-house counsel experience and thus understands the need and interests of employers. We can offer employers training in diversity, employee relations and guidance as to policies and procedures. We have assisted in the drafting of employee handbooks which have included leave and vacation policies, harassment and non-discrimination policies, email use policies and other general workplace policies.

Based on New Jersey’s Law Against Discrimination and other state and federal legislation, the firm represents individuals who have been victims of discrimination on the basis of age, sex, race, creed, ethnicity, national orientation, sexual orientation, and other protected categories. This practice area has seen tremendous growth over the last several years and we continue to be actively involved in this continually developing area of law. Our partners and associates are involved in the Monmouth County Bar Association as well as the state bar association. The firm has been involved and has chaired the labor and employment committee of the Monmouth County Bar Association. Through this involvement, the firm has remained abreast of important legal developments and trends affecting this area of law.
